CLIENT
Global medical diagnostics company, originally a mid-sized company, but since acquired by one of the world's largest companies and now market leader in medical diagnostics
SITUATION
KEY ISSUES: Fast-growth R&D environment requiring pipeline of skilled leaders and managers; series of acquisitions requiring expanded change capability; heightened need for collaboration across functional, geographical and cultural boundaries
This mid-sized company had operated with a seamless, family-like culture, with minimal structure or boundaries. Post-acquisition, this needed to change, creating great opportunities as well as challenges.
CORPTALK SOLUTION
KEY ELEMENTS: Leadership and performance coaching; Cross-boundary collaboration to support execution of the business plan, innovation and continuous process improvement
CorpTalk is a preferred vendor and has provided Organizational Development consulting and Executive Coaching services since 2002. Highlights of this engagement include:
  • Designed the coaching model of choice for the entire pre-acquisition organization, introducing coaching best practices and delivering more than 30+ coaching cases (including six at the senior-most level and a number of others who have been promoted to senior level in the newly merged organization)
  • Post-acquisition, CorpTalk was invited to extend services into the acquiring company and is approved vendor for two major, enterprise-wide learning and coaching initiatives
  • Invigorated and supported the R&D and Customer Service organizations around innovation and collaboration resulting in process improvements and reduced product improvement cycle time
  • Dissolved silos across the organization and across geographies and other boundaries to create collaborative working networks
CLIENT PERSPECTIVE
The Vice President Human Resources has worked closely with us for almost seven years. This is what she said about the results:
"CorpTalk's work is broader, deeper, richer and more integrated than any coaching company with which I've had experience. The model of development through conversation is superior to any other I've seen. CorpTalk invests the time required upfront and afterwards in follow-up to make the most impact possible. We have had crises where two people couldn't work together and after working with CorpTalk, they worked through the problems and modeled the behaviors and processes for others on their team to follow. Those involved were left with specific skills to use in the future. Personally, I've learned a lot about systems thinking and conversation. We've gotten more than our money's worth!"
